Les voy a contar algo sobre mí, tal vez algunos se han dado cuenta que yo no suelo participar (o participo muy rara vez) en grupos de Facebook, ni pertenecer a distintos grupos de WhatsApp que sean sobre homeschool… menos dedico mi tiempo en discutir sobre puntos de vista… no es lo mío y no me gusta… así como tampoco me engancho en debates de política.
En los pocos grupos que hace mucho quise participar la verdad es que lo hice muy poco y dejé de hacerlo cuando me di cuenta que me encontraba con polémicas, desacuerdos, críticas y esas cosas que en general a mí me desgastan solo de verlas.
Hace un tiempo, en un post de una página de Facebook que sigo porque es súper ocurrente y me hace reír, vi que se estaba haciendo polémica de un tema, así que decidí dar mi opinión, algo fuera de lo común en mí, pero es que el tema llamó mi atención.
A grandes rasgos el tema era sobre “a qué edad se debe comenzar a educar en casa”, unos decían que cuando los niños empiezan la primaria, que a los 8 años, que al nacer, que en el kínder… ¡que en el kínder siempre no porque era importante esa etapa para que los niños jueguen!
También hubieron varias mamis que comentaron que desde el momento que nace su hijo y deciden que siempre lo educarán en casa desde ese momento comienza el viaje por el “homeschool”…. bien ese comentario me sonó más familiar, pues pienso parecido, pero….
¿Es en serio la pregunta? ¿De verdad creen que existe una edad adecuada y políticamente correcta para comenzar a educar en casa? Bueno, si me preguntan a mí, yo les voy a responder que a cualquier edad se puede iniciar a educar en casa, y ¡cualquier edad es buena para dar comienzo a este proyecto de vida!
Mis hijos nunca han pisado una salón de clases, y desde que el mayor era un bebé yo ya sentía que educaba en casa y ya tenía el chip de mamá educadora. Conozco familias que comenzaron llevando a sus hijos al kínder y después en la primaria decidieron comenzar a educar en casa, es más mi mamá me sacó del sistema cuando yo estaba en tercero de primaria y desde ese momento hice algo así como una variante de escuela en casa o como le llamábamos “fui a la escuelita” ya que varios papás pioneros del homeschooling en México en aquellos años, reunieron fuerzas, contrataron una maestra y nos reunían en una casa para aprender.
También he sabido de padres que desean que sus hijos comiencen a educarse en casa cuando ya están en la secundaria y también conozco a alguien que comenzó ¡en la prepa!
Así que no, no creo que hay una edad o nivel escolar adecuado, lo que sí creo es que cuando los papás están comprometidos, informados y listos ¡ese sí que es el momento indicado!
Si tu deseas educar en casa, analízalo bien y cuando tú y tu familia estén listos, ese será el momento correcto para comenzar.
