Durante todos estos años que llevo educando a mis hijos en casa, he sido una ferviente defensora de los beneficios de educar en casa, pero como en todo, también nos hemos enfrentado a diversas dificultades, desafíos y más.
Hoy quiero tocar este tema, no para desanimar o predisponer, sino para que se tome en cuenta de una manera realista a la hora de decidir dar este paso y también para que, conociendo esto, puedan empezar a considerar maneras de disminuir el impacto de estas situaciones.
Como siempre lo que aquí les compartiré va desde mi perspectiva, experiencia y posibilidades.
1) CANSANCIO MENTAL DE MAMÁ:
En general las mamás llevamos una fuerte carga mental de miles de cositas, pensamientos que ocupan un gran espacio de nuestras mentes como ¿Qué cocino? ¿Es sano? ¡Miguelito no tiene calcetines limpios! hasta temas personales relevantes, de salud, emocionales o de emprendimientos. Entonces es importante saber que involucrarse en educar en casa será un nuevo tema para añadir a esa lista y que, en algunas ocasiones, nos puede llegar a espantar el sueño.
Para aminorar esta carga lo ideal es que siempre, siempre, siempre puedas contar con el apoyo de tu esposo o de alguien que pueda ser tu respaldo para esos días. Hablen seriamente y asegúrate de que vas a poder contar con un soporte adicional para esos días que puedes llegar a sentir cansancio, agobio o desánimo. También recomiendo que cuando te sientas muy agotada, pongas una pausa a las actividades educativas ese día y lo tomes para descansar mientras los peques juegan.
2) MUCHOS DÍAS CATASTRÓFICOS:
A veces romantizamos mucho la educación en casa, nos imaginamos días soleados trabajando con niños con mandiles limpios al rededor de una mesita con flores y mamá tomando una rica limonada mientras enseña a sus dulces pequeños.
En la realidad, te aseguro que sí habrá uno que otro día así de lindo, peeero, normalmente los días pueden representar un reto diferente cada vez, en serio, debes creerme… Sí, hay verdaderos días “terribles, horribles, no good, very bad day” en donde ¡pasa de todo!, hasta lo que no te imaginas, y ¡cuando menos te imaginas! .. en este momento se me acaba de ocurrir el siguiente tema para escribir jeje, pronto les voy a contar una experiencia al respecto, cuando haga ese post pondré aquí el enlace para que lo puedan leer. ¡YA ESTA EL POST!, LEER AQUÍ
Respira, no podemos controlar cada detalle de nuestras vidas, de los acontecimientos del día, de la reacción y colaboración de nuestros hijos. Confía en el proceso y pon tus afanes en manos del que Todo lo Puede ❤.
3) FALTA DE TIEMPO PARA HACER TODO LO PLANEADO O PEOR FALTA DE TIEMPO PARA PLANEAR:
Quienes me han seguido desde hace años que empecé a educar en casa saben que me gusta planear, que uso mi agenda, etc. sin embargo muchas veces me he encontrado en el calamitoso punto de desesperación ya sea porque no pude hacer todo lo que tenía en el plan o bien porque ¡pasó el mes y no terminé de planear!
Es muy buena idea planear, eso nos da un camino y estructura, pero es mucho mejor idea ser flexible y aprender a aceptar los cambios, los retos tan cambiantes de la vida y a ser como un velero que se deja llevar por el viento, a veces hay que saber como ajustar y orientar las velas para aprovechar como sopla el viento y poder navegar sin perder el rumbo. Y aplica lo que dice Mateo 6:31 “Así que, no os afanéis por el día de mañana, porque el día de mañana traerá su afán. Basta a cada día su propio mal“.
4) EL ENCIERRO FAMILIAR:
Creo que este punto suena bastante tétrico, pero es una realidad que cuando educas en casa pasas mucho tiempo en ella con tus hijos, y a veces hasta con un esposo que trabaja desde casa, y todo eso puede llegar a ser agobiante.
Pienso que este punto es más o menos agobiante dependiendo de tu personalidad, algunas mamás somos más de pasar el tiempo en casa y otras disfrutan saliendo de casa todos los días, Aquí creo que será bueno idear maneras que la familia pueda tener salidas, visitas a amigos y familia o paseos que ayuden a aminorar esa sensación de encierro.
5) DIAS DONDE CREES PERDER EL RUMBO, OLVIDAS LOS PROPÓSITOS Y SIENTES MIEDO O DESÁNIMO:
Es algo muy normal y que he escuchado compartir a diferentes mamás educadoras, de repente un día te levantas y dices ¿Estoy haciendo lo correcto? ¿Creo que no es suficiente? ¿Están aprendiendo? ¿Y si….? ¿Pero porqué estoy haciendo esto? ¡Ya no puedo más!.
Para esos días es bueno contar con amigos que lleven el mismo estilo de vida y puedan animarse mutuamente cuando cada uno lo necesite, personas que te ayuden a recordar porque están haciendo esto y te infundan seguridad e inspiren de nuevo.
6) LA SOCIALIZACION: Sí, tenía que tocar el tema cliché de los detractores de la educación en casa, se cree que al educar en casa los niños tienen pocas oportunidades de socializar, pero ese es un punto que yo no comparto, los niños pueden tener oportunidad de socializar con los abuelos, los tíos, los primos, los amigos, los grupos de homeschool, las clases extracurriculares. Sin embargo el tema se vuelve más serio cuando vives lejos de tu familia, no tienes muchos amigos ni grupos a donde asistir, y ahí el problema puede ser la falta de convivio y juegos para los niños.
Este es un reto que los papás necesitan sentarse y desarrollar ideas para poder suplir esta necesidad.
7) LAS CRÍTICAS DE LOS DEMÁS: Oh sí, eso puede resultar realmente incómodo, tener que dar detalles a esas personas que preguntan sobre el estilo de vida de homeschool pero más que nada para encontrar un error en ello, o que te puedan decir de manera despectiva que no estas capacitada para educar a tus hijos. A veces la sociedad puede llegar a ser muy insistente y dura.
